CSR - Corporate Social Responsibility – and Team Building
Corporate Social Responsibility is an important consideration for Bluehat in its role as the market leader in team building and team development and as a company in itself. Bluehat take its own Corporate Social Responsibility very seriously and it also recognises that there is an opportunity on Bluehat team building events for Bluehat to promote a socially responsible approach.
Here is Bluehat UK’s CSR Policy Statement:
'Bluehat will play an active role in reducing waste, recycling and re-using. In parallel, Bluehat are committed to giving back to the environment by introducing innovative initiatives to drive the CSR agenda forward. Bluehat also take on the additional responsibility to educate people about environmental issues in whatever way we can through our team building products and services.'
Corporate Social Responsibility on Team Building Events
Corporate team building events provide an opportunity to promote socially responsible attitudes to corporate life and life in general. Bluehat offer a number of team building events that are specifically designed to promote awareness of social responsibility.
Bluehat will also launch a brand new CSR team building event in 2007. If you would like to find out more about Bluehat’s latest CSR team building event please speak to the Bluehat team on 0845 207 2001.
Garden Challenge is probably the most successful existing corporate and community team building event because it combines great teamwork with results that are immediately meaningful to individuals in the community who are less privileged. It has a direct visible impact and your team’s effort is immediately rewarded. This is sometimes a downfall of community team building projects which are positive and well meaning but have less direct impact and immediate reward.
Garden Challenge was designed in August 2002 to give companies an opportunity to put something back into their local community. Since then hundreds of people have benefited from the efforts that teams have made on their team building events.
"Thank you all for achieving in one day what I have been trying to achieve for over a year!"
To see more details please go to the page on the Garden Challenge team building activity.
Garden Challenge was part of Bluehat’s winning nomination for Team Building Company of the Year 2003. For more information on these awards please go to the News and Articles section.

CSR in the Daily Bluehat Office Routine
Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental issues require a huge collective effort to make a real difference. Saving the planet is a huge responsibility. By breaking up this monumental task into smaller chunks it becomes a realistic goal to make the difference that is required. Corporate Social Responsibility therefore comes down to the impact of the collective behaviour of teams within organisations and individuals within teams.
Bluehat’s team is committed to changing everyday habits and behaviour with a view to helping to make a difference. Here are some of these simple steps that are easy for everyone to follow:
- Reducing waste in the office – e.g. using both sides of a piece of paper
- Recycling as much as possible instead of just throwing it in the bin
- Using recycled products
- Re-using folders and files
- Sharing information electronically within the office wherever possible
- Using electronic marketing information instead of paper brochures and information sheets
- Sending electronic greetings cards
- Working from home to reduce carbon emissions
- Sharing transport and using public transport
- Switching off computers, printers, scanners etc rather than leaving them on standby
- Switching off unnecessary lights
- Turning down the heating a fraction
